GROUP RULES

Thu Aug 23, 2012, 8:47 PM by Lydia-Burns:iconlydia-burns:
Top Bird

We strive to make our group and chat room a place where everyone feels welcome. In order to do that, we have to enforce rules. We must make it clear that the rules were created with the input of members and the admin staff.

What to know before joining

:bulletblue: The group admins will make your RP account (which will start with "WDisneyRP-")
:bulletblue: Spelling and grammar are important since this is a text based RP
:bulletblue: Members should be active (when inactive for more than 4 weeks you will be kicked and must send a note to the group asking to rejoin. This also applies to the comment activity of the account.)
:bulletblue: OCs and non-members cannot interfere with RP activities or plot lines

Initial rules once you are a member

:bulletgreen: Don’t use RP accounts to join other RP groups as they belong to this group only. This rule also applies to joining other groups with the RP account as an admin, co-admin or contributor. Please use your main account if you want to help another group out in managing said group.
:bulletgreen: Don't set your RP account's online status to 'invisible.' We need to know how frequently you are active just in case we need to find a replacement RPer who is more active
:bulletgreen: After a month of group membership, you are allowed to apply for a second character. The only restriction is that your second choice can't be one that interacts a lot with your other character. (ie. You playing both Rapunzel and Flynn at the same time wouldn't work)
:bulletgreen: Once you have had your second character for a month (without switching), you may apply for a third character. Your third character also can't be one that interacts a lot with your other characters, since constantly RPing with yourself ruins the point of RPing with others.
:bulletgreen: Avoid any pop-culture references as they do not pertain to our characters (XBOX, Bronies, iPhone, etc.)
:bulletgreen: DO NOT delete your RP account. If you wish to leave the group, just send a note to the group explaining why (see FAQ for details)

Role playing as your character

:bulletblue: When developing your character beyond the movie, have them evolve REALISTICALLY. This will keep them close to their canon personality and avoid a forced fantasy which would become out of character.
:bulletblue: Preserve the magic. Stay in character at all times!
          :bulletgreen: Examples:
-If your character doesn't do magic, they shouldn't suddenly become a master of it
-If you are given a magical item, it shouldn't last more than two weeks as it will feel OOC
-If your character is transformed by magic or put under a spell, it shouldn't last more than two weeks
-If your character is a villain, they shouldn't become close friends with the heroes (unless it's part of an evil plan)
:bulletblue: If your character doesn't use profanity in their canon film or show, don't use it!
The only exception is if your character has used it in canon! (For example, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Judge Frollo says "damn" when referring to religion, like when he quothed "My soul will be damned if I give in to this desire." Lampwick called Pinocchio a "jackass" (animal-wise, before political correctness) when turning into a donkey.)
[DeviantArt FAQ #60: Do you allow "Adult", explicit sexual or pornographic content on deviantART? How about linking off site?]
[DeviantArt FAQ #3: Are there restrictions to comments?]

Interacting with other characters

:bulletgreen: Stay with your official couple (Mickey+Minnie, Perdita+Pongo, etc.) and please no non-canon pairings (All romantic relationships between two single characters must be approved by both parties AND admins)
:bulletgreen: Interact with others the way YOUR character would act
:bulletgreen: When sending in an application, use the codeword "Walt sent me" to prove that you have read through these rules thoroughly.
:bulletgreen: If you need to talk OOC (ex. To explain/plan RP or share something) keep it to a minimum or use private messages/notes. You can also use the OOC chat room.

Rules for uploading deviations, journals, and favoriting

:bulletblue: Treat your character's uploads the same as journals! They should be relevant to your character and prompt RPing between you and other members!
:bulletblue: Don't upload something JUST because it's Disney-related (ex. pictures of merchandise, etc.). It should be something that your character would post, and your character should have something to say about it!
:bulletblue: Only fave art that your character would be interested in! Should be either art of the character and their family and friends OR art that reflects their interests (i.e. Timon would fav pictures of bugs, him and Pumbaa, Simba, etc.)
:bulletblue: Please keep OOC journals to a minimum. If you feel the need to announce something important that is OOC, that's perfectly fine, as long as you don't do it very often. If possible, you can format the journal like this:
-Write an IC journal entry as your character (you can even make it relate to your OOC comment!).
-Then at the bottom of the journal entry, leave a brief OOC comment
-Example: "Oh, my caballero Panchito just invited me to visit his home in Mexico for a week! I'm so excited!
((I'm going away for a week, see ya when I get back))"
           -Member Examples:  fav.me/d5vxf8v fav.me/d5rvorm fav.me/d5wb2dk
:bulletblue: No self-advertising please. If you want to advertise a group, account, or project, please don't do so on the RP accounts. You can send a private note to a few members but no more than that to avoid spamming everyone.

(OC) ORIGINAL CHARACTERS AND NON-DISNEYRP ACCOUNTS

:bulletgreen: No non-canon/OC children. There have been issues in the past where members have neglected the canon Disney character they applied for and focused mainly on the OC babies.
:bulletgreen: No RPing with outside RP accounts; these accounts are for this group only

All members are expected to agree to our rules and to follow them. If you have any questions about these rules, please feel free to ask us. We would be happy to clarify.

If you start to push the limits, we will be forced to remind you of the rules or give you a warning. Three warnings and you're out.

Thank you,
your DisneyRP-Old-and-New admin staff

((The rule that says don't apply for a second character that interacts a lot with your first, does that basically mean that you can't rp two characters from the same movie?Derp ))

No it does not.
The rule only applies to characters that need to interact a lot with each other because of an established relationship in the movie.
Be it direct family, love interest, sidekick or enemy.

As Alice you can't apply for the Queen of Hearts for instance or Cheshire (since he is more of Alice's guide then anything else.)
Certain minor characters are allowed such as the Caterpillar or the March Hare, since they don't necessarily need to interact with Alice a whole lot.
Hatter on the other hand wouldn't be allowed to apply for the March Hare since those two character do interact a lot with each other.

If you are in need of a character that Alice interacts with a lot, but nobody has applied for them yet, feel free to use said character as a plot device every once in a while.
Taking charge of the needed character only when Alice isn't able to, or as a supporting character every so often when a plot requires it.

If you have any further questions please let us know.

When applying for a character, does the rp sample have to be in script format or can I write in story format?

Either one will do. All the members either use on or the other or even both mixed together, so just use whatever it is you're comfortable with using.

That's right. You have to play your first character for at least a month until you can apply for a second character.
If you've played your second character for at least a month you may apply for a third one.

This is something you have to mention in the application dear. Not right here on the journal. ^^;
Applications for characters can be send in via a note to the group.

Go to the front page.
There should be a yellow note somewhere in the top right.
Click that and you can send in a note.

As for linking further.

The 'How to Join' section on this page has a template you need to fill in for your application.

OC's aren't allowed. If you want to apply for a canon Disney Character, feel free to go over the rules and fill in an application.
If an character isn't on our current member list, the account will be made for you by the admins.

Hey, I play as a couple characters, but I was wondering...

Can the character your roleplaying as develop a crush on someone, as long as the crush fades away after a while?

As long as the other roleplayer is alright with it, non-canon ships usually aren't a problem. However, you'd still need to send in a group note for permission.

For one; waiting a month or two proves to us that you're actually an active, dedicated roleplayer who won't leave after a few weeks. Two, it reduces trolls, spammers, and the chance of someone hogging characters. Three, it makes things a lot easier for the admins, as we already have a lot of apps to consider, and getting three apps at once from the same person is no walk in the park. Its more work than you think, having to set up new accounts and monitor the activity of almost 300 characters.

Yes, that's perfectly fine. As long as it doesn't develop into a long rp or they try to join a plot, etc. Consider it like a "meet and greet" and Disney! c:

Yes but you HAVE to tell us in a private note whenever you change it so that we don't lose access to the account, should you become inactive or such. We've lost a few accounts that way and had to make new ones.

The point of the codeword is to check that you've read through the rules fully, not just skimmed them, so read them carefully and you'll see it.

I sound really stupid asking this sort of thing, but is the reason why you don't allow the members of this group to talk or roleplay with mains or Oc is because you've encountered a bunch of God-Moders and Mary-Sues? Or are you trying to stick to the original plot without any new characters other than Disney related interfering?
Reply
:iconaqua-melody101:
Aqua-Melody101 Featured By Owner Jul 9, 2013
Both. (And yes, lots of issues with those godmodders and mary-sues in the past...) But if someone's main wants to ask a character a question or wish them a Happy Holiday or something similar to that, that's fine. I don't mind that. It's only when they try to get regularly involved and controlling RPs that it's an issue.

Ahhh understandable enough, I tend to have a habit of roleplaying with certain roleplay accounts, I don't consider myself a sue or a god-moder because I've dealt with a lot of them in my time but I just wanted to know the reason why since there are a few accounts I've wanted to poke at to get to know the admin and check out their roleplaying style, but I didn't wanna seem like a pest or spam someone's account with a long ass starter that I spent ten minutes typing out.
